High School Musical 4 was announced in April 2008 and filming has already started. High School Musical 4 will premiere on the Disney Channel, where the first two movies in the franchise met with so much success, and will feature an entirely new cast, original stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens having graduated from East High at the end of the third instalment. High School Musical 4 will debut in 2010 and will center on the East High Wildcats' basketball team's rivalry with the nearby West High Knights.
